Dear Brooks and Reese, [one month]

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

Brooks & Reese - week 1 397

I have thanked and praised God for both of you since the moment I knew I was pregnant and you have made the last month of life the absolute best! Your Dad and I prayed consistently and fervently for your health and entrance into our world and now you are here, forcing my heart to now exist outside of my chest, and bringing me incomprehensible amounts of joy.

Our days have been filled with tons of fun — you both sleep and eat like champs and we have gotten spoiled with all the time we have to rock and sing and bounce together.  As visitors come and go, I always feel like the lucky one because I get to stay!

Brooks & Reese - week 3 166

Brooks Bruner, bumpkin #1, my little man — You are always processing life out loud. You talk to us through your grunts and squeaks and your cry still makes my heart sing.  Your cheeks are just chubby enough for the perfect kiss and your expressions change constantly. You always find your sister in the crib and let her snuggle into your warmth (and melt your Mom’s heart).  You love the bouncy seat, a tight swaddle, and yesterday you found your thumb! Honestly, I have enjoyed every second with you in this last month.

Brooks & Reese - week 1 147

Reese Redding, my bumpkin #2, Reesey, Reese-i-nator, “Pieces” (as your Father refers to you) — I have dreamed about having a red headed daughter my entire life, and now you are here!  You are still so tiny and you are the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen.  You are quite laid back and you open your bright eyes often — when you do cry, you let it all out — and your scream is just plain fabulous. You move toward your brother all the time — finding a perfect spot to be as close to him as possible. Your angel’s kiss birthmark is your signature look 🙂 Honestly, I have enjoyed every single second with you in this last month.

When we were at the hospital, my heart would overflow when I looked at either of you — and that has not stopped.

I am so proud to be your Mom — thank you for the best month ever

  3. Sarah, I love your posts. You sure know how to bring a tear to my eye. As a mother, you could not have put the joy of a child into better words.

  4. I can’t believe it’s been a month already…I need to meet these new cousins of mine!

  5. You are the perfect mother, but we already knew that! 😉
